Regulations

The EU Directive to ban incandescent bulbs came into effect on September 1, 2009 – it is likely that a ban on halogen lights will follow in the next two years.

Using energy efficient lighting will contribute towards meeting the following regulations:

• Part L of the Building Regulations: requires 25% of all the light fittings within the home to be low energy/energy efficient lights.
• Code for Sustainable Homes
• Enhanced Capital Allowance
• Eco-design Directive (EC)
• National Indicator 186 (local authority carbon emission reduction targets)
