How do we work out the Totalight savings on the  "savings challenge calculator" ?

Wattage of the lamp / 1000 to give wattage in KW

Divide this by the efficiency of the low voltage transformer – 100% for GU10 as there is no external transformer
Multiply by the number of Hrs per year ( hours / day X No. of days/ week x 52 weeks)

This gives the KW usage

To get Kg of CO2
Divide the KW usage by 0.43 ( this is the average Kg of CO2 produced in electricity production)

Cost of electricity
Multiply the KW usage by the cost of electricity

Totalight triple LED lamps run on 5.3 watts (w) offering an immediate energy saving of over 90% when compared with a 50w halogen lamp. Replacing one million 50W halogen lamps with Totalight would save over 95,000 tonnes of C02 and if every household in the UK had four bulbs it would save an estimated 2.8m tons of CO2 per year.
